Volvo Trucks North America entered into a memorandum of understanding with Trimble Transportation Enterprise to develop future transportation management and fleet maintenance products and services.

Specific details of the offerings to be developed by the parties under the proposed collaboration have not been finalized.

Fleet management services offer critical information such as location, fuel economy, and vehicle and driver performance data for trucks in a fleet.

This information can be utilized by fleets to control costs, increase safety, improve customer service and enhance operations, according to Greensboro, N.C.-based VTNA, a unit of Volvo Group.

“Our work with Trimble enables us to continue expanding our connected vehicle-services offerings, focused on partnerships with best-in-class providers,” Conal Deedy, director of connected vehicle services for VTNA, said in a statement. “We’re working together to enhance our customers’ fleet management systems to provide better insight into how their assets are performing and offer solutions that will increase efficiencies in their organizations.”

Trimble Transportation Enterprise, a unit of Trimble Inc., offers services for:

• Asset maintenance.
