Volvo Trucks North America announced TransEdge Truck Centers recently became the truck maker’s first certified electric vehicle dealer in Pennsylvania.

The certification was finalized when its Pittsburgh location completed the staff training program and necessary facility upgrades.

One service manager and two technicians have been trained to service and maintain the Volvo VNR Electric. TransEdge converted one service bay to be dedicated to battery-electric trucks, and technicians have been outfitted with personal protective equipment for working with high-voltage systems.

The remodeled facility includes upgraded electrical service and charging infrastructure that can handle a 25-kilowatt and 50kw charger, according to the six-location dealership, founded in the early 1920s.

The Pittsburgh site is about 18,000 square feet and has approximately $1.2 million in key parts and components inventory for the Volvo VNR Electric model to minimize service times, VTNA noted.

“We are proud of the success of our Volvo Trucks certified EV dealer program as it expands to yet another state and continues to build the ecosystem necessary for widespread adoption of battery-electric trucks across the nation,” VTNA President Peter Voorhoeve said in a release.
