Volvo Trucks said it is investing $69 million to upgrade equipment at its New River Valley truck assembly plant in Dublin, Virginia.

The enhancements will include upgrades to the paint facility as well as new storage systems, docks, lifting devices and a redesign of some work areas to improve material delivery.

“This investment will spur significant improvements in material handling and parts flow that will allow us to increase throughput and reduce tied-up capital,” Vice President and General Manager Lars Blomberg said in a statement.

The plant assembles Volvo VNM, VNL, VNX, VHD and VAH trucks.

“The [New River Valley] plant and the passion of its employees are a competitive advantage for Volvo Trucks,” Göran Nyberg, president of Volvo Trucks North American sales and marketing, said in a statement. “This investment gives them the tools to continue optimizing delivery precision and quality for our customers.”
