Vigillo Debuts Inspection Accuracy Web App

Vigillo LLC, a software provider of fleet safety information, has released a new product known as Inspection Management System, or IMS, to aid fleets in assessing the accuracy of roadside inspections.

Vigillo said its Web-based application represents a new product category for tracking roadside inspections and listed Schneider National as its first client.

Vigillo said that the IMS allows motor carriers for the first time to upload master lists of drivers and vehicles and enter inspections and violations as they’re reported from the field.

Master lists are then compared with inspection reports from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

“Every year, motor carriers operating in the United States are subjected to hundreds of thousands of roadside inspections that contain millions of violations attributed to almost 5 million drivers,” said Steve Bryan, CEO of Vigillo. He said data quality issues and FMCSA’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability program have increased the importance of having accurate inspection information.

“IMS identifies all mismatches (errors) from FMCSA, missing and erroneous data on inspections, violations, drivers and vehicles is highlighted,” Bryan said.

Errors can be addressed by submitting data to FMCSA’s DataQ’s system, he added.

IMS will provide more visibility for violations and data discrepancies that occur at roadside inspections, enabling a quicker response, said Don Osterberg, senior vice president of safety, security and driver training at Schneider. Osterberg added that IMS allows Schneider to focus on changing driver behavior and managing its scores under the CSA program.

Schneider ranks No. 6 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
