USA Truck reported a first-quarter loss, citing a sharp increase in its unmanned tractor count.
It lost $4.9 million, or 47 cents per share, compared with a loss of $2.7 million, or 26 cents, a year ago.
Revenue slipped 1.8% to $97.8 million, the truckload carrier said Thursday.
Its strategic capacity solutions’ unit’s operating income and revenue rose, while its intermodal unit’s operating loss was reduced by 43.5%, to $200,000.
USA Truck is ranked No. 50 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
