Uber Freight has partnered with fleet-management services provider Geotab to offer small carriers electronic logging devices and one year of service.

For eligible carriers with 10 trucks or fewer, ELDs will be free and service will be fully subsidized for the first year and discounted thereafter, according to the Chicago-based digital freight broker.

The offer requires a carrier to agree to share telematics device data with Uber Freight. ELDs and ELD services will be provided by Geotab.

A two-year exemption for e-log systems known as automatic onboard recording devices, or AOBRDs, is set to expire Dec. 16, and the new federal rule requiring ELDS will take effect. — Transport Topics
