iesel fuel sold in Minnesota, which now requires a 2% biodiesel blend, is clogging trucks’ fuel filters, prompting some companies outside the state to tell their drivers traveling through Minnesota not to refuel in the state, a trucking official said.
Diesel fuel experts cautioned that the same problem could occur wherever biodiesel is used. Biodiesel is made from soybeans or vegetable oils or fats and contains no petroleum derivatives. The Minnesota law went into effect Sept. 29 and since then, “We’ve had some reports of clogged fuel filters,” said John Hausladen, president of the Minnesota Trucking Association.
