Trucker Arrested at Mexican Border With Over 100 Illegal Aliens in Trailer

A tractor-trailer packed with more than 100 illegal aliens was discovered by U.S. Border Patrol agents at a checkpoint in Sarita, Texas.

Agents called it the region’s biggest bust involving a tractor-trailer attempting to smuggle undocumented immigrants across the border. The truck’s driver had $25,000 in his pocket when he was detained, authorities said.

The 100 men and 23 women from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico had each paid $1,000 to $2,000 to ride the latest mode of transportation in the human smuggling business, said John Trevino, a Border Patrol supervisor.

"We think it's a pack of smugglers using this as one means of transportation," he said. "The truck was littered with water jugs and food — no produce, just people."
