Truck-Lite Buys LED Lighting Company Rigid Industries

Truck-Lite Co., which makes LED lighting systems, said Feb. 5 it acquired LED lighting manufacturer Rigid Industries. Terms were not disclosed.

Truck-Lite said that by acquiring Phoenix-based Rigid it “continues to expand its offering of the industry’s most diverse lighting product lines, with options for nearly every lighting need.”

“Rigid Industries provides an ideal platform for Truck-Lite’s further expansion into the off-road, power sport, agricultural, marine, industrial and mining markets,” Truck-Lite CEO Brian Kupchella said.

The deal positions Rigid “to grow as a major player in the LED lighting industry while maintaining its own distinct brand identity. Rigid has proven themselves a unique and successful company with superior quality, innovation and a high level of customer interaction,” he said.



In addition to manufacturing facilities in Michigan and Pennsylvania, Truck-Lite has plants in England, Germany and Mexico. With customers in 40 countries, the companies said they are seeking to expand in the United States., Europe, Australia and New Zealand in this year.

Truck-Lite, based in Falconer, New York, makes forward lighting, wiring harnesses, mirrors, turn signal switches and safety accessories to the heavy-duty truck, trailer and commercial vehicle industries. Total workforce for the two companies is more than 2,400 employees. Rigid added a second facility in Gilbert, Arizona, in 2013 and has more than 250 workers.
