Transplace Wins Contract With Elementis

Transplace has announced that chemicals maker Elementis Specialties Inc. has selected it to handle its domestic transportation. No contract terms were revealed.

Elementis Specialties, Hightstown, N.J., produces chemicals for the coatings, consumer, oil and lubrication industries. Transplace said it would manage carrier relations, truck tendering and freight bill reconciliation for Elementis.

Transplace, Dallas, is a third-party logistics provider.

In April, Transplace, for an undisclosed sum, acquired SCO Logistics, a Philadelphia third party that focused on chemical shipments. Transplace said the purchase of SCO Logistics gave it the expertise to handle chemical shipments and helped win the Elementis contract.

Before SCO Logistics, Transplace had handled shipments of consumer packaged goods, retail and manufactured products. SCO Logistics was founded in 2000 and Transplace has said the company handled about 45,000 shipments a month, according to published reports.

Transplace, which said it does more than $800 million in business a year, has been owned by private equity firm CI Capital Partners LLC, New York, since 2009.
