The latest technologies in tolling in this country and worldwide will be the focus of a conference the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association will host later this month in Boston.

Speakers will include David Strickland, former administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Thomas Tinlin, highway administrator of the Massachusetts Department of Administration, and Robert Pole, director of transportation policy for the Reason Foundation. The two-day conference begins July 24.

“With more than 500 transportation leaders from around the globe gathering in Boston, the summit will showcase the latest and best innovations in tolling and transportation, as well as lessons learned from tolling projects,” said IBTTA President Earl “Buddy” Croft, who also is executive director of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority.

The trucking industry has adamantly opposed expanding the use of tolls as a way to fund highway projects.
