ORLANDO, Fla. — Fleet technology vendor Telogis Inc. announced an update and expansion of its in-cab navigation software at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.
Telogis Navigation 5, which will be available this fall, will add new driver alerts that provide updates about road information including weather, traffic, sharp turns and speed thresholds.
Erin Cave, director of product management for navigation at Telogis, said the new alerts are designed to give drivers “more ammunition to do their job safety and efficiently.”
“If you can give them as much information as possible during the driving experience, they’re going to make better decisions,” she said Oct. 21.
Drivers can receive the new alerts as a pop-up notification on the display or through an audio alert.
The new version of the navigation software will also include more detailed views of complex highway exits, interchanges and junctions, Cave said.
Apart from direct sales, Telogis will also provide the updated navigation product through in-cab communications providers Omnitracs Inc. and PeopleNet Communications Corp. as NaviGo 5 powered by Telogis.
