Selig to Retire as President; Culp to Take Over Post, Maverick Says

Maverick USA Inc. President and Chief Operating Officer Stephen Selig will retire  Dec. 31, and John Culp, who is executive vice president and chief financial officer, will replace Selig, the company said.

Selig has been with Maverick, which ranks No. 76 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers, since 1984. The president for 15 years, Selig has seen the company grow from $5.1 million annually to $316 million last year.

“Stephen has led our organization as president for half of his 32 years, through some very challenging times," CEO Steve Williams in a statement. "The cornerstone of his leadership has been his personal character and work ethic,”

Culp has been executive vice president and CFO since 1995. He joined the company in 1989.
