Seko Logistics has opened two warehouses this year as a result of medical, automotive, industrial and technology companies bringing supply chains back into the United States, the third-party logistics company announced May 10.

In Syracuse, N.Y., Seko moved into a 120,000-square-foot warehouse, 10 times larger than its old building. The new location incorporates 13 dock doors and 40-foot-high ceilings to accommodate high racking systems, which have gained importance due to the speed required to deliver e-commerce freight.

Seko said business at New York locations in Buffalo and Rochester also are growing.

In Pittsburgh, Seko moved into a 30,000-square-foot facility, three times larger than the old space. The move was driven, in part, due to the growth of medical shipments at facilities with the proper quality-management certifications.

“While some logistics companies have pulled out of western New York and western Pennsylvania, we’re continuing to expand in these markets in order to give our customers the local customer service and account management they need,” Seko Logistics Chief Operating Officer Rick Lee said in a statement.

“With the increase in reshoring happening in western New York and the resurgence of Pittsburgh as a medical and high-tech hub, our expansion has also enabled us to offer new recruitment opportunities within both our customs brokerage and warehouse operations.”

Seko Logistics ranks No. 55 on the Transport Topics sector list of the top warehousing firms in North America.
