Cummins Inc. named Rich Freeland to be the next president of its engine business, succeeding Jim Kelly, who the company said Tuesday will step down from that position early next year.

Anant Talaulicar will succeed Freeland as president of the components unit, while continuing to serve as managing director of Cummins India.

Both Freeland and Talaulicar will assume their new roles in March.

Freeland, 52, joined Cummins in 1979 and held a variety of positions with the company, taking over components in February 2008.
