PenAir is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, and operates passenger, freight and charter flights to seven destinations in southwest Alaska and the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands. The purchase resulted from a Section 363 bankruptcy auction for the company’s assets.

Ravn is also headquartered in Anchorage and employs more than 1,000 people. It operates a fleet of 70 aircraft to provide passenger, freight and charter air transportation services to more than 115 destinations in Alaska.

Ravn ranks No. 20 on Transport Topics’ 2018 list of top mail contractors.

“The two companies coming together provides an incredible opportunity to better connect Alaska, with the ability to provide broader, more reliable and more consistent service,” said Dave Pflieger, Ravn’s president and CEO, in the release. — Transport Topics
