Port of Los Angeles Truck Drivers Declare 36-Hour Work Stoppage

Truck drivers from three companies declared a 36-hour work stoppage Nov. 18 at the Port of Los Angeles, protesting unfair labor practices, according to local reports.

The striking drivers from Green Fleet Systems, Pac 9 Transportation and American Logistics International claim they have endured unlawful retaliations for attempting to form a union with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the Los Angeles Times reported.

A spokesman for Green Fleet and Pac 9 told the Times the strikes are, “desperate acts of a group trying to force their agenda on an industry that time and time again has simply rejected them.”

Drivers with Pac 9 say they are classified as independent contractors and want recognition as full-time employees.
