The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Pittsburgh more than $10.9 million in grant funding.

The money will be used to fund transportation and infrastructure projects intended to improve mobility in the city, according to a statement from U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Scranton).

Federal officials awarded the grant through the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act, which establishes and funds programs to ease congestion on roadways and improve freight movement.
