Oregon Faces Loss of Funds Over Status of Farm Trucks

/B>The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is seeking comment on whether it should allow Oregon to continue exempting farm trucks from safety regulations, so the state would not have to lose millions of dollars in federal truck safety grant money.

The federal agency has said that if Oregon does not change its laws on farm trucks by July, the state could lose its $2.5 million share of the 2003 federal truck safety grants.

“We certainly hope they will meet the regulations,” FMCSA spokeswoman Suzy Bohnert said.
