NTTC to Name Driver of the Year Starting in 2014

AUSTIN, Texas — National Tank Truck Carriers said it will begin a driver-of-the-year award, starting at its 2014 annual conference.

Dean Kaplan, CEO of K-Limited Carrier, said the award will be named in honor of William Usher Sr., Chairman and CEO of Usher Transport, and will be sponsored by insurance underwriter Baldwin & Lyons.

Kaplan is NTTC’s new first vice chairman, and the trade group made the announcement at its annual conference here this week.

Applications for the Professional Tank Truck Driver of the Year will be available on the NTTC website June 15. Kaplan said the deadline for filing will likely be in February, and the award will be presented next April.

In preparation for the award, American Trucking Associations sent two of its Road Team captains to the NTTC meeting, both of whom drive for tank truck carriers.

Captains Dale Williams of Trimac Transportation and Todd Stine of Carbon Express said they were proud to represent the tank truck industry among America’s best drivers and to serve as trucking’s ambassadors to the public.
