Formerly of Alaska, Becky Nelson Scorches Record Florida Field to Win Grand Champion Title
This year’s Florida Truck Driving Championships welcomed a record 279 competitors. Grand Champion Rebecca “Becky” Nelson of FedEx Express outdrove them all.
She earned a score of 319 in the Straight Truck competition and will be advancing to the National Truck Driving Championships in August.
Nelson
Nelson, 53, is from Fairbanks, Alaska, where she competed in state championships several times and attended NTDC three times. Now, she’s gearing up for her fourth year at NTDC, this time as a Floridian.
Nelson moved to Florida about a year and half ago, and she said the competition is much steeper than it was in her home state.

2019 Preview
When: June 6-8, 2019
Where: Daytona Beach, Fla.
Field: A Florida record field of approximately 315 truck drivers is expected to compete in nine categories.
Preview: 2018 Grand Champion Jottyn Santos of FedEx Express will be back to defend his overall crown as well as his first-place finish in 4-Axle.

2018 Recap
Santos
Jottyn Santos of FedEx Express earned the title of Grand Champion at the Florida Truck Driving Championships. Santos competed in the 4-axle division and went on to nationals at Columbus, Ohio, where he came in 43rd.
Florida's top finisher at nationals was the Sleeper Division's Eddie Pennington of FedEx Freight, who earned a spot on the podium with a third-place finish.
