New Penn Motor Express said it will close its administrative office at its Lebanon, Pa., headquarters and consolidate it with the YRC Worldwide field resource center in Overland Park, Kan.
New Penn Motor Express is a subsidiary of YRC.
The company made the announcement July 8.
Company officials said the move relates only to the administrative personnel. All New Penn Motor Express service centers in Pennsylvania and throughout the network will not be affected by the move and will continue to serve customers.
“Ultimately, this allows us to focus our resources on services that directly impact New Penn customers while reducing enterprise-wide costs with duplicative administrative roles,” said Howard Moshier, president of New Penn Motor Express.
YRC officials did not return messages seeking further comment.
Founded in 1931 in Lebanon, New Penn Motor Express operates service centers throughout the northeastern United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. It provides local, next-day and less-than-truckload service.
YRC ranks No. 6 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 2 on the TT list of the largest less-than-truckload carriers. — Transport Topics
