Navistar Offers Lightweight Transmission Option for ProStar
Truck and engine maker Navistar Inc. will offer the Tremec 10-speed manual transmission as a new, lightweight option for its International ProStar tractor with the company’s 13-liter MaxxForce engine.
Navistar said Tremec offers a range of high torque-to-weight ratios designed for weight-sensitive trucking applications. The pairing also helps maximize payload for applications such as bulk haul, the company said.
“This lightweight transmission reduces the weight of the vehicle while also providing our customers with yet another choice,” Jodi Presswood, general manager for Navistar’s heavy-duty truck product line, said in the Sept. 23 announcement.
Navistar also offers Tremec transmissions as an option for the ProStar with Cummins Inc.’s 15-liter ISX15 engine.
