Motorcar Parts of America Acquires Dixie Electric

Motorcar Parts of America Inc., a remanufacturer, manufacturer and distributor of automotive aftermarket parts, has acquired heavy-duty rotating electrical products company Dixie Electric, according to a Jan. 10 press release.

Financial terms of the stock purchase transaction were not disclosed.

Peter Murnen, most recently vice president of marketing for Motor Parts of America in the corporate office in California, will relocate to Ontario, where Dixie Electric is based, to serve as chief operating officer.

Dixie Electric was founded in 1968. It manages distribution locations in Canada and the United States and maintains a manufacturing presence in India. It operates within the industrial, agricultural, construction, transportation and mining segments.

Motorcar Parts of America manufactures and distributes parts such as alternators, starters, wheel bearing and hub assemblies, brake master cylinders, brake power boosters, rotors, brake pads and turbochargers. The company’s products are sold to outlets throughout the United States, with facilities located in California, Mexico, Malaysia and China and administrative offices in California, Tennessee, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada. — Transport Topics
