Montana DOT Increases Truck Violation Detection With Cameras

The Montana Department of Transportation increased truck violation detection through the use of in-station cameras to electronically screen trucks, according to technology provider Help Inc.

Violation detections increased 23% at MDT’s westbound Billings inspection station after using the 360SmartView in-station camera system for a year, according to Help Inc., provider of the system.

The facility also increased the amount of inspected vehicles by 25% and increased revenue from temporary fuel permit sales by 55% and temporary vehicle registration permit sales by 88%, Help Inc. said.

The system provides a snapshot of vehicles entering a facility based on information from the U.S. Department of Transportation and as many as 90 other data sources, according to Help Inc.
