Truck and bus manufacturers built 14,543 heavy-duty vehicles in Mexico in May, an 18.2% jump compared with 12,306 in April, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

The increase extends a recovery in Mexican production and exports of Class 8 trucks to the United States fueled by output increases at all Daimler Truck North America, International Motors and Paccar facilities.

As production and exports increase, the data adds to growing evidence that a sustained recovery in the North America freight market is flourishing.

Class 8 North American truck orders jumped 103% year over year in May to 26,500 trucks, according to preliminary ACT Research data, after soaring 201% in April.
