NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Meritor Inc. said it has a range of products in its development pipeline destined for various areas of the globe and that these products are mostly aimed at the off-highway or specialty segments.

The number of heavy-haul truck orders is significantly higher compared with the past few years, John Nelligan, Meritor’s vice president of sales and service, said during an interview with Transport Topics at the Technology & Maintenance Council annual meeting here. TMC is a division of American Trucking Associations.

“We feel pretty strongly that the key to staving off vertical integration [among truck and equipment makers] is having products available [in several segments] that make it easy for the customers to adopt us,” Nelligan said.

As a result, through 2019, the company has more products launching in off-highway, heavy-haul construction, mining and oil compared with the on-highway segment, he said.

Meritor has always been a significant player in those areas, he said. “We are just looking to take it to the next level.”

Meritor manufactures axle, brake and suspension products.
