Marten’s 1Q Income Jumps

Marten Transport’s first-quarter income jumped 32% over the same period last year, the truckload carrier said late Tuesday.

Net income rose to $7.2 million, or 34 cents per share, from $5.4 million, or 25 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose about 8% to $164.5 million.

Operating revenue, net of fuel surcharges, increased 8.2% to $132.7 million, Marten reported. Operating income rose to $12.5 million from $9.5 million.

Truckload net income rose to $10 million from $7.1 million a year ago, while logistics net income rose to $2.5 million from $2.4 million.
