Maersk to Offer U.S. Chassis Pool

Maersk Line said it will offer its container chassis to drayage firms, ocean carriers, marine terminals and railroads for use throughout the country, a move company officials said will reduce delays for truck drivers and decrease fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

The first pool of 5,000 chassis will be offered at the Port of New York and New Jersey, starting in the third quarter, through a new division called Direct ChassisLink.

Maersk owns about 90,000 chassis in the United States.
