According to a Morgan Stanley Dean Witter survey of shippers, three FedEx divisions and two from UPS comprise five of the nation’s six most capable transportation units in terms of e-commerce. The firm’s Equity Research division interviewed 250 shippers in various segments of the economy to come up with its findings.

Surveyors concentrated on the largest users of freight transportation in the United States.

FedEx received an average ranking of 7.6 out of a possible 10 — tops among the group. Tied for second place were FDX Logistics and UPS; each had a score of 7.5.
