An index of leading economic indicators rose 0.7% in June, the third consecutive increase, the New York-based Conference Board said Monday.

Economists had forecast a 0.5% gain, following the 1.3% revised increase in January, the group said.

The LEI is closely watched by trucking companies because it forecasts business activity for the next three to six months.
