LaHood Going to Work for Caterpillar

Former Transportation Sec. Ray LaHood has been hired as a consultant by Peoria, lllinois-based Caterpillar Inc., the heavy equipment maker.

The Journal Star newspaper in Peoria reported June 5 that LaHood will be the company's representative on policy matters.

LaHood was transportation secretary from 2009 until 2013, when he retired to work in the private sector.

LaHood will help Caterpillar with corporate strategies. The company expects to benefit from his expertise on infrastructure planning, investment and manufacturing in the United States, said Caterpillar Spokeswoman Molly Donahue.
