Jobless Claims Increase for Week

Initial jobless claims rose 25,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The gain to 410,000 new claims put the total higher than analysts’ forecasts of 400,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, rose to 417,750, from 416,000 the previous week.

Continuing claims for the previous week ended Feb. 5 rose by 1,000 from a week earlier, to 3.91 million.
