Intermodal Volumes Fall for Week

Intermodal traffic for the week ended July 26 fell from year-ago levels, the Association of American Railroads said in its weekly report.

Intermodal traffic declined 3.2% to 235,397 containers and trailers, led by a 4.4% drop in container volumes that wiped out a 1.3% uptick in trailer volumes.

Overall rail traffic also fell for the week, declining 0.9% to 333,187 as shipments of motor vehicles and auto equipment fell sharply, AAR said.
