Hyundai Translead tapped Hendrickson Fleet Solutions as its commercial vehicle dealer for New York and New Jersey, expanding regional access to the Hyundai Xcient fuel cell Class 8 truck, Hyundai Translead announced Feb. 2.

The addition of three Hendrickson service locations gives fleets access to sales, service, parts, warranty support and infrastructure assistance for the hydrogen-powered model, according to the release. The companies said the partnership is intended to support wider use of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles in the region.

Hyundai describes the Xcient fuel cell as the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck. The agreement pairs the model with Hendrickson’s service network and EV integration capabilities, which the companies said will help fleets pursuing decarbonization efforts.

Chance Parker, vice president of EV strategy at Hendrickson Fleet Solutions, said the designation marks a key step for both companies. “It’s much more than a new product offering; it’s a game-changing commitment to decarbonize more trucks and more fleet operations in the NYC metro area and beyond,” Parker said. “Combining the Hyundai Xcient fuel cell truck with Hendrickson’s customer-centric EV integration and infrastructure support, we are delivering complete fleet solutions for zero-emission success.”

Sean Kenney, CEO of Hyundai Translead, said Hendrickson’s experience and support capabilities make the company a strong fit as Hyundai expands availability of the Xcient fuel cell truck in North America. “We look forward to working together to provide sustainable transportation solutions for more fleets and communities,” Kenney said.
