House Rules Committee to Tackle Senate's Long-Term Highway Bill Nov. 2

The House Rules Committee is scheduled to meet Nov. 2 to address general debate for a Senate-passed highway reauthorization bill.

The committee, tasked with dispatching bills to the floor, has called on lawmakers to offer non-transportation related amendments to the Senate-passed highway bill. Transportation-related amendments would need to be offered to the House highway bill version. That bill was reported out of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Oct. 22.

The two bills appear on separate tracks on the Rules Committee website.

Several House lawmakers have indicated they will look to attach provisions to a highway bill related to truck weight limits, as well as infrastructure funding when a bill is called up on the floor of the House.

The Senate passed its version in July.
