Gasoline Prices Seen Rising Higher by May

Gasoline prices could jump by 60 cents or more by May, USA Today reported Monday, citing fuel analysts.

The reasons include rising Middle East tensions, and more expensive seasonal gasoline formulations to meet environmental standards, the paper said in a front-page story.

Gas has risen 21 cents at the pump in five increases in the past six weeks, according to U.S. Department of Energy records.

Diesel has risen almost 7 cents in three increases in the past four weeks.

DOE will release its weekly survey of diesel and gasoline pump prices Monday afternoon in Washington.
