Ga. City Ordinance Limiting Truck Parking Draws Criticism From Trucking

Truckers from around the country are opposing a local Georgia ordinance that limits truck parking on city parking lots, the (Macon, Ga.) Telegraph reported.

The Warner Robins, Ga., law, passed last week, bans trucks from parking in lots for more than two hours without owners’ permission, the newspaper reported on its website.

Warner Robins, south of Macon in central Georgia, includes Interstate 75, a major north-south corridor.

Truckers are asking city officials to rethink the ban, and council members have said they are not against trucking, the Telegraph said.

One councilman said he has received 75 e-mails from as far away as Wisconsin opposing the measure, and Mayor Chuck Shaheen said he’s gotten 25, the newspaper reported.
