Flying J, Comdata Reach Agreement

Truck stop chain Flying J Inc. said it has started accepting Comdata payment cards at its 270 U.S. and Canadian travel centers.

“This arrangement will provide a new payment method that will enable more motor carriers and professional drivers to have access to Flying J’s fuel network,” Crystal Maggelet, Flying J’s chief executive officer, said in a June 3 statement.

Comdata, a subsidiary of Ceridian Corp., Columbia, Md., has 1.5 million active fleet cards, credit cards and pay cards that process $23 billion in payments annually, the statement said.

Flying J, Ogden, Utah, reached a merger agreement last year with Pilot Travel Centers LLC, Knoxville, Tenn. It said it should be able to exit bankruptcy if the merger goes through.

Flying J filed for bankruptcy protection in December 2008.
