FedEx Corp. said Thursday it has agreed to acquire the Polish courier Opek Sp.z o.o. to expand its services in Europe. Terms were not released.

Opek ships 12.5 million shipments and generates about $70 million annually, FedEx said.

The company expects the transaction to close this summer after it receives regulatory approvals.

In the current fiscal year, FedEx Express has opened 26 new stations in Europe, while FedEx Trade Networks has added 22 European locations in recent years, the company said.

FedEx is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
