Election Shifts Hill Agenda

he federal election last week, which gave Democrats control of Congress for the first time since 1994, will shake up the Hill’s legislative agenda as well as the Capitol’s lead-ership, observers told Transport Topics.

Democratic officials said they intended to look at several issues, including homeland security — and specifically at ports — and exercise greater oversight over a number of federal agencies.

“Obviously, it’s going to result in a lot of changes,” said Tim Lynch, senior vice president of federation relations and strategic planning for American Trucking Associations.
