The Department of Transportation’s freight transportation services index for February rose 2.7% from a year earlier, DOT said Wednesday.

The freight TSI was unchanged from January, following a 2.4% month-to-month increase the previous month, DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics said.

The February reading of 111.5 was 1.1% above the February 2006 level and 0.4% below the February 2005 level, DOT said.

The TSI is a seasonally adjusted monthly index measuring the output of services provided by the for-hire transportation industries, including railroad, air, truck, inland waterways, pipeline and local transit.
