DOT Gives $7 Million to Three Northeast States to Repair Flood-Damaged Roads

The Department of Transportation said it is immediately making available $7 million in emergency relief funds for three Northeastern states to help cover the costs of repairing roads damaged by flooding this summer.

New York will receive $5 million, and New Hampshire and Vermont will receive $1 million each, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said.

“Our priority is to help them get things back to normal as soon as possible by reopening roads so people can get to work and continue their daily routines without worrying about delays caused by detours,” Foxx said in a statement.

Among the damaged roads were Interstate 89 southbound in Vermont and several state routes in New York. The funds were released through the Federal Highway Administration, a DOT agency.
