Diesel Falls 1.8¢ to $2.928 in Fifth Straight Decline

Diesel fell 1.8 cents to $2.928 a gallon, marking its fifth straight decline and leaving it at its lowest level in three months, the Department of Energy said.

The downturn left trucking’s main fuel 35.6 cents higher than the same week last year, DOE said following its weekly survey of filling stations.

Gasoline also fell for a firth straight week, declining 2.4 cents to $2.701, leaving it 2.9 cents higher than the same week a year ago, DOE said.

Diesel is at its lowest since March 15, when it registered $2.924 a gallon. It has declined 19.9 cents in the past five weeks after gaining 37.1 cents from mid-February through mid-May.



Gas is at its lowest level since the end of February, when it was $2.655 a gallon. Gas gained almost 30 cents from mid-February through mid-May, and fell 20.4 cents in the past five weeks.

Each week, DOE surveys about 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
