Daimler Sets $9,000 Price Increase for 2010 Engines

Daimler Trucks North America will raise its heavy-duty truck prices for 2010 models by $9,000 to account for new emissions technology, with medium-duty trucks costing $6,700 to $7,300 more than 2009 models.

The surcharges reflect the costs of selective catalytic reduction technology, the parent company of Freightliner Trucks said.

The increases affect engines by Detroit Diesel Corp., also owned by Daimler. The truck maker also will offer a Cummins ISX15 heavy-duty engine and expects to announce pricing for that option shortly.
