Construction Spending Increases 0.3%

Construction spending rose 0.3% in June, the Commerce Department said Monday.

The increase followed a revised 0.8% drop in May.

Residential construction gained 0.5%. Non-residential construction increased 0.1%, led by a 0.9% increase in government spending.

Public construction gained 1%.

Construction spending can boost demand for trucking services because spending increases the number of shipments of goods and building materials.
