Collin Mooney Named CVSA's Executive Director

Collin Mooney has been appointed executive director of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance after 13 years with the organization.

Mooney had been serving as CVSA's acting executive director since Stephen Keppler stepped down on Sept. 4, 2015. Keppler left to become senior vice president of the Intermodal Association of North America. Mooney becomes the alliance's fifth executive director.

Mooney also had been the alliance's deputy executive director since 2010. He joined CVSA in 2003 as director of training programs and later served as the organization's director of enforcement programs.

"Through his unwavering commitment to this alliance and its mission, his deep industry knowledge, and his devotion to transportation safety, Collin has demonstrated he has what it takes to lead this organization, and we are confident he will move us forward in achieving our strategic goals and mission," CVSA President Maj. Jay Thompson, of the Arkansas Highway Police, said.

Mooney has 27 years of experience in the transportation safety industry, all of which has been dedicated to large truck and bus safety. Prior to joining CVSA, Mooney worked in Canada with the Saskatchewan Highway Transport Patrol and spent more than a decade as a transport officer with what was then known as the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch of Alberta Transportation.

"As a former transport officer and CVSA-certified inspector, I understand the many challenges our roadside inspectors face, each and every day, in order to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and commerce throughout North America," Mooney said.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to continue with my dedicated service of promoting commercial motor vehicle safety, by working collaboratively with member jurisdictions, all levels of government and the various industry stakeholders to lead the alliance into the future."
