Cargo Traffic Declines at China's Ports

Cargo traffic at ports in China declined for the first time in at least seven years last month, Bloomberg reported.

The global recession caused lower demand for coal, toys and textile exports, which caused the decrease in cargo traffic, Bloomberg said.

Cargo volume fell 1% from a year earlier to 460 million tons in November, the Ministry of Communications said. Container traffic rose 4.1% to 10.4 million boxes.

Exports from China fell last month for the first time in seven years, Bloomberg said, indicating that recessions in the United States, Europe and Japan are affecting China's economy.
