CARB Mulls Incentives for Diesel Regs

The California Air Resources Board has directed its staff to come up with specific proposals by September to provide additional flexibility to help truckers ease the financial pain of complying with the state’s new truck regulations.

Citing the “potential effects of an unfavorable economy,” the board will consider approaches to give credit to firms that already have complied with the regulations and to examine the possibility of additional loans and incentives to help carriers retrofit or buy new trucks.

CARB plans to hold a series of workshops this summer to solicit more information from stakeholders on the proposed revisions.
