A Canadian trucking company plans to establish its first U.S. hub in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley and create about 25 jobs.

Kenz Transportation recently opened an office in the Stabler Corporate Center at 3477 Corporate Parkway, with plans to secure a trucking facility in the Lehigh Valley, said Matthew Osley, Kenz's director of operations.

Osley said Kenz is eyeing existing depot sites along Brodhead Road in the Bethlehem area and off Routes 309 and 663 in the Quakertown area. "We may build in the Lehigh Valley depending on how fast we grow," he said.

The company plans to hire 25 truck drivers during the next three months, plus two administrative staffers, Osley said.

It's no secret to anyone driving the Valley highways that the region has busted out with trucking companies as the logistics and warehousing industry continues to ratchet up. A recent report by Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. ranks transportation and warehousing as the region's sixth-largest economic sector at $1.69 billion.

Like many trucking companies with Valley operations, Kenz said it looks at the region for its centrally located proximity to major interstates along the Northeast and South. The company wants to ship goods to those areas as well as eastern Canada, he said.

Kenz Transportation is a subsidiary of McConnell Transport Ltd. a privately held company based in Woodstock, New Brunswick. The truck transporters specialize in refrigerated truckload services between Canada and the U.S.
